POS vs EPOS system
The focus of a POS is almost exclusively on carrying out transactions. An EPOS system is a modern electronic update of the traditional POS system, and is a combination of the hardware and software needed to carry out transactions and streamline the management of a business.
Static hardware
POS systems ted to only work with the hardware supplied with it. Typically, that would have been a stationary terminal, cash drawer, as well as a card reader.
Offline only
POS systems rely on a wifi or internet connection to process payments, which can cause issues in cases of poor or no connection.
Manual inventory menagement
With the traditional POS system, inventory management errors would sometimes lead to shelves being laden with dead stock, costing time and money.
No analytics tools
Older POS systems tend not to offer much extra functionality such as analytics and tracking tools that the newer systems do.
