POS vs EPOS system

The focus of a POS is almost exclusively on carrying out transactions. An EPOS system is a modern electronic update of the traditional POS system, and is a combination of the hardware and software needed to carry out transactions and streamline the management of a business.

1

Static hardware

POS systems ted to only work with the hardware supplied with it. Typically, that would have been a stationary terminal, cash drawer, as well as a card reader.

2

Offline only

POS systems rely on a wifi or internet connection to process payments, which can cause issues in cases of poor or no connection.

3

Manual inventory menagement

With the traditional POS system, inventory management errors would sometimes lead to shelves being laden with dead stock, costing time and money.

4

No analytics tools

Older POS systems tend not to offer much extra functionality such as analytics and tracking tools that the newer systems do.

1

Flexible hardware

EPOS systems are a lot more flexible, with many compatible with iPads and mobile devices, which means the system is accessible wherever you have device.

2

Online and offline

EPOS systems have offline capabilities as well as online, meaning it can still process your customers’ payments if connection is lost for any reason.

3

Real-time inventory management

Because it’s possible to gain real-time access to your inventory from your EPOS system, it’s a far more flexible and efficient system of inventory management.

4

Analytic tools

For EPOS, charted sales figures, sales trends and other stat analyses of your business come as standard, allowing you to accurately asses how business performance is doing.
